Rug Tips
- When placing a rug on top of a carpet remember that some rugs may shed colour on to the carpet below. It may be advisable to use a rug stop fleece as a barrier to stop any colour migration.
- There are a number of rug stop fleeces available to help stop rugs moving on both hard floors and carpets.
- When vacuuming rugs take care of the fringes.
- Periodically vacuum under rugs to remove loose dirt that may have filtered through the rugs on to your carpet.
- On an annual basis place the rug upside down on a polythene sheet, on a hard floor, then vacuumed the back of the rug. This will dislodge dry soil from the rug.
- Deal with any spill as soon as they happen.
- When dealing with a spill never rub the rug always dab.
- Work from the outer edge into the centre of a spill or stain
- If you have a spillage on a rug and have cleared the spill up from top, it is worth placing a barrier under the rug, as there may be loose dyes that could stain the carpet below.
- When you are satisfied that you have removed the offending spill, place 10-15 sheets of kitchen towel over the area with a weight (a book or Yellow Pages) on top and leave to dry.
